Monks is a pop-up jazz listening room that hosts a variety of acts at Topology. A grand piano, house drums, bass & guitar amps, as well as handmade tables make this a unique experience in east Austin.

There are plenty of venues to have a conversation across a table, but Monks is not that place! As such, we enforce a strict whisper policy during performances out of respect to our audience and the performers.

Jeffrey Olson's "Double Cognate" is a new experimental group intended to explore the boundaries of jazz. 7 musicians playing together for the first time, finding their way to the last note. The ensemble will perform two sets of guided improvisation, developing original themes as well as melodic samples from the rich avant-garde jazz canon.
